最使我佩服和值得學習的是水上先生創造性的將繪畫技巧與花藝設計完美地結合在一起，增添了花藝作品的畫意之美，充分地表現了作者深厚廣博的藝術造諧，不愧為繪畫藝術家的花藝創作，非常值得我們學習與借鑒。
總之，欣賞水上先生的花藝作品，不單是賞心悅目而且更耐人尋味和遐想，更能感悟傳統的脈動和時代的精神，更能懂得花藝創作需要許多姐妹藝術的融入與支撐。
我認為水上先生作品中這些有益的寶貴啟示，對中國插花花藝界同仁們的深入學習和提高將有很大幫助。

水上雅夫的作品既是花藝設計又是裝置藝術，只要你往後十多步，從較遠處觀賞，他的作品就變成一幅現代畫，是真正能夠把繪畫與彫塑等多元素藝術融入花藝設計的第一人。
水上雅夫的花藝設計示範，是從一草一木開始，與預先設定架構在臺上只是插上鮮花的示範大大不同。從他的示範中可以學到許多基本架構工夫，現場看著他做時覺得很容易，但到直正做時才感覺到有相當高的難度，他沒有用針山和花泥來定著花朵，只用花、枝、葉等以力學和平衡力等各種技巧支撐花朵自然企立，為“香港人的花藝風格”帶來新意。
我深信水上雅夫這本書將會成為香港愛花的朋友的最佳學習指南，加上他對環保的提示和意識，讀者將會從實習和閱讀中獲益良多。

水上雅夫見識廣博，有比一般人豐富的人生經驗。他崇尚大自然，是情似無情卻有情的性情中人。他的作品以大自然為本，擅長於表現大自然中若有若無、若隱若現，看得見與看不見之間的境界。是極難表現的形似無形卻有形的意境。
水上雅夫以深刻的思維和崇高的激情作為他創作的胚胎，以極其敏銳的觸覺，恆久不變的童真，對四時入微的觀察力，追求完美的藝術生命。他甚至把一般的商業花藝設計，利用支點變成整個設計的一部分，來支撐花卉自然企立，昇華為別具靈氣的藝術作品。---------他的表現手法有別於一般，常常使觀者嘆為觀止。在他的作品中，可以看到他孩童時的玩意，借用他的眼睛看到大自然中瞬間的美。更重要的是在他的作品中，不斷地提醒人們要珍惜大自然，要對大自然生態的保護。

日本花道藝術家水上雅夫，對身邊的每事每物都細意審視，從中發掘瑣碎的美。憑著他對大自然的“一往情深”，及能看穿事物表面並發掘內在美的本事，水上先生在國際花卉設計及裝置藝術上建立了崇高的地位。他閱歴豐富，觸目皆是創作靈感。
第一次接觸水上先生的藝術作品的人，無不拍案叫絕。他雖然用上日本花道的基本技巧，但作品絕不傳統。對習以為常的事尤感厭倦，水上先生相信最細微最容易錯過的地方才是真美所在。“在自然環境，我們無法看到支撐著地上生物的地下生態系統。但若我們剖開地面，地下的樹根便一目了然，樹根支撐著樹幹，樹幹支撐著樹葉以至花朵，每一個部分都隨著風、雨及陽光和諧地生存。”他解釋：“我的創作目的，是要以另一種形態來詮釋大自然的真美，以全新的概念藝術來歌頌我們週遭的一切。”

From Some Thoughts on reading “Living with Nature” |
What is most admirable and worth learning from is that Mr. Masao has brought the art of painting and flower design together in a perfect harmony, giving a special beauty to his flower design works. These are truly flower designs done by a painter. The harmony between painting and flower is the very essence
of Mr. Masao’s art, which we all can benefit from learning as a model.
All in all. To look at Mr. Masao’s work is not only an enjoyable experience, it is also intriguing and catches one’s imagination. It enables one to understand better the currents of tradition and grasp the spirit of our time. We learn that the art of flower design needs contributions and support from sister fine arts.
I think that these insights from Mr. Masao’s work are most helpful to our colleagues in the field of flower design in further enhancing their art.

You can also see that Ms. Masao is the first person who can truly incorporate different artistic elements in painting and sculpture into flower design.

The starting point of all Masao’s works is his deep thought and sublime passion. He makes use of his highly alert sensibility and never changing innocence and observation of the seasons to immerse himself in nature, and comes up with artistic images that are so perfect that they become a part of nature. Even in ordinary commercial flower arrangement designs, he is able to transform the design into an extraordinary work of art.--------------more importantly he reminds us repeatedly to cherish nature, to protect its environment.
So are Masao’s works, they leave the spectator with deep thoughts and moved, as a true artist and a true son of Mother nature.
